Provide Basic Emergency Life Support First Aid Training Recognised worldwide & Delivered in a highly effective methodology in a wide array of realistic scenarios, this short course provides you with the skills and knowledge to help you recognise and Respond Right to life-threatening emergencies at home, with your children, friends, and in your community using basic life support.
Provide basic emergency life support course that incorporates content from the Perform CPR.
– Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
– Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface
– Responded appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting
– Managed the unconscious breathing casualty
– Followed single rescue procedure, including the demonstration of a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compressions
– Followed the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
– Responded to at least one simulated first aid training scenario contextualised to the candidate’s workplace/community setting, including:
– Demonstrated safe manual handling techniques
– Provided an accurate verbal or written report of the incident
– Allergic reaction
– Anaphylaxis
– Bleeding control
– Choking and airway obstruction
– Respiratory distress, including asthma & shock
– Allergic reaction
– Anaphylaxis
– Bleeding control
– Cardiac conditions, including chest pain
– Chocking and airway obstruction
– Respiratory distress, including asthma
– Treatment for shock
– How to respond correctly to a person having a stroke
Whilst there are no pre-requisites for Provide BELS basic emergency life support course, please be aware that in order to make an accurate verbal report to the supervisor and the emergency response services as well as provide written incident reports, adequate language skills are required and assessed.
Participants in Provide basic emergency life support will need to participate in physical tasks and will be required to kneel on the floor to allow assessment as stipulated by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC). Participants will need to wear appropriate attire to allow movement on the floor.
Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment, Certification and wall diploma

- Face to Face – 4 hours (minimum) full face to face course
- Blended delivery – 3 hours (minimum) face to face course with the addition of 2 hours self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course
- Refresher training – 3 hours (minimum) face to face course – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates.
- Online First Aid Training with Face to Face Assessment – 20 minutes (minimum) face to face assessment with the addition of 6 hours of self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course.
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.
It is recommended that renewal for this course is undertaken every 3 years, with the additional requirement of updating the CPR component every 12 months.

No work placement will be required as part of this course.

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:
- Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:
- Perform CPR on an infant.
- Practical scenarios – The assessor must observe the following practical scenario:
- Perform CPR on an adult.
- Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must successfully complete all assessment questions.

For any cancellations made more than 48 hours prior to the course an administrative fee of $20.00 will apply. Unfortunately no refunds or changes to course bookings can be made within 48 hours of a course start time.
